The Best New People: vocational internship

Studying a double degree in business and arts, there were multiple internship options to consider. However, upon discovering Dixon, I knew it was the place I wanted to be at the most.

Entering my final year of university, I had yet to gain any experience in a corporate work environment, so I really didn’t know what to expect. I was super excited to start, however, I still remember how nervous I was coming into the office on my first day. From the moment I entered the office everyone in the team made me feel welcome and comfortable in an environment that I was not used to.

During my time at Dixon, I learned a great deal that I believe will greatly benefit my future career. I’m aiming for a career in HR, and the tasks I handled while on the customer experience team helped me develop crucial skills like communication, teamwork, customer service and many more that will help me be successful in the future.

Under the guidance of my trainers, Sue and Ange, I quickly became acquainted with Dixon’s policies and procedures. Their unwavering support and approachable demeanour made all the difference, they were not only incredibly friendly but also always ready to address any queries or concerns I had. Their dedication and professionalism showed me how I should approach my work in the future.

The culture at Dixon was one of the things that stuck out to me the most. The team were tight knit and I was amazed to see how well everyone worked with each other. The way the team worked together to tackle problems was eye opening, as the system they used was so effective in dealing with candidates and clients’ needs. The recruitment team were compassionate and were genuinely interested in helping put candidates in to jobs, their dedication and approach to their duties truly inspired me in many ways.

My experience at Dixon was great and I could not recommend them enough, this was truly an experience I will never forget. I will forever be grateful for everything I learnt and the opportunity that Dixon provided me with to kickstart my career.
