What is the most challenging role you’ve ever recruited?

A highly technical IT position where the client was using a legacy system that very few candidates in Melbourne had used in years.

I ended up finding a candidate who was based in Sydney who had just come back from overseas travel and used the system in their last role in London. The candidate happened to want to move to Melbourne so everything worked out very well.

Best recruiting advice you’ve ever been given?

To never believe everything you see on a resume. Candidates can both undersell and oversell themselves, so ask a lot of questions.

Best advice for hiring managers?

To always consider the candidates that may not look perfect on paper but have the transferrable skills to do the job.

Don’t let your past negative work experiences get in the way of you finding the next position.
