Our temporary candidates often ask…

“Why can’t I work from home?”

Dixon Appointments’ Temporary Employment Agreement includes an agreement not to undertake any work at home or at a work site other than the one nominated by Dixon Appointments.

“Why?” you ask?

We are committed to ensuring the health, safety and well-being of all of our employees…that’s you!  Australian workplaces are obligated to control and assess their environment for potential risks to employees on site. Your home is an uncontrolled environment that we are unable to assess for workplace risks.

“Why do I have to take a lunch break?”

Modern Awards dictate how and when meal breaks must be taken. Most Modern Awards require that employees take a minimum of a 30 minutes meal break after 5 hours of work.
If you are asked to work through your mandatory meal break, some Modern Awards require penalty rates to be applied for all hours worked until a meal break is taken. As such, unless explicitly requested, all employees must take a minimum of a 30 minutes meal break each day.
Also, it’s ideal for your health, well-being and productivity that you get away from your desk and take a break!
